Mike Tyson returns to boxing to face Roy Jones in an 8-round performance

Training videos released on social media by former controversial heavyweight champion Mike Tyson are not just for show, it has been revealed. Yahoo Sports has learned from many quarters that Tyson will return to boxing on June 12 to face Roy Jones Jr. at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Andy Foster Tyson, executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, confirmed that he had his hold on that date. Foster told Yahoo Sports that he had recently met with Tyson and Jones via Zoom and that the fight would be an exhibition.

They are not worn as a turban but are worn larger than regular gloves. Foster said he believes he was wearing 12-ounce gloves.

"This is not a situation where they are trying to behead each other," Foster told Yahoo Sports. "They're spinning in the ring right now and letting fans see these legends."

Tyson has not played since losing to Kevin McBride on June 11, 2005. Jones has not fought since February 8, 2018. Tyson is 54 and Jones is 51.

Foster said there was talk of a boxing match between former world champion James Tony and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz in the undercard, but Ortiz said it would not happen.
